Making the shift

During lunchtime I often go walking outside along a small river to get fresh air and to relax. Usually I listen to an audio book. Today I have listen again to Dr. Wayne W. Dyers lecture he held in Hawaii. This lecture is based on his book “Excuses Begone” and the movie “The Shift”. While I was listening to this I got inspired to write this blog post.

The daily struggle

When we go through life, we face many struggles. Some have a personal background and some are influenced from political, social or economical background. In the last time, I think most people are strongly influenced from the economical crisis we have in Europe and America. We are daily faced with it through the media. And in many cases, this media presence overtakes our perception.

The role of the media

The media has one big challenge. The have to sell their stories. So they have to find a way to get the attention of the people (consumer). Unfortunately the more shocking the headline is the more people give them attention to and the media can sell the story and therefore make more money with advertising. And so we are in a rat race.

Perception is projection

The problem with this media presence is, the more we focus on their stories the more our live is dominated by the topics which are present in the media. We starting to make decisions for our life according to the news and discussions we heard in Radio or TV. Our reality is more and more dominated by that.

Is this the life you want?

I am sure people often ask themselves, what’s going wrong in my life? Why have some others  such a good life and I live in this misery? When this represents yourself then you must maybe  ask yourself the question: Am I really willing to make changes in my life? What excuses do I have?

There are several ways to make the shift. I have here three solutions to turn your life around.

Firstly, because our lives are so influenced from negative things and thoughts, we have to find a way to find positive aspects. I recommend that you write down 3 to 5 things in the evening in a notebook which you have done well during the day. This can be little things, it doesn’t matter. But when you to this exercise every day, after a short time, you have a whole book about positive aspect in your life and this makes a difference.

Secondly, when you go to bed in the evening before you fall asleep, visualize in your mind about things you want to have or experience in your life. Do this for several minutes and try to activate the correlated feeling.

Thirdly, to the same exercise when you awake in the morning and you will start your day in a good mood.

When you do these 3 exercises you will see the difference in your life. You will see that you have more options in your life and therefore you make more positive and better decisions
